Dodgers News: Dave Roberts Confirms Julio Urias Isn’t Coming Back This Year

This isn't surprising whatsoever.
In this story:

As the Dodgers get ready to begin their playoff run this weekend, the team is reminded about the terrible actions of starting pitcher Julio Urias. Urias is being investigated for domestic violence, and he was put on paid administrative leave weeks ago.

He hasn't been with the team during this time, and there haven't been too many updates about the situation as it all plays out.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts spoke about the future of Urias with the team during an interview with insiders Jon Heyman and Joel Sherman of The New York Post. He confirmed that the pitcher wouldn’t be back for the playoff run and that his future in LA remains up in the air.

“He’s on the restricted list,” Roberts said. “So we haven’t seen him, we haven’t heard from him. And so obviously, he’s not going to be pitching for us this year.”

Urias not returning to the team is very unsurprising considering how everything ended this season. The team has seemingly moved on from him and is heading into the postseason without his services.

It’s unlikely that Urias ever takes the mound for the Dodgers again, but to ask Roberts is a fair question by the insiders.

“And as far as what the future holds,” Roberts said, “I have no idea.”

It’s a sad situation all around that could have been avoided, but Urias made his bed, so he has to live in the mess that he made.

The left-hander will be a free agent this winter, and before his incidents, he was scheduled to possibly receive a nice payday. But now, not only will he likely not get paid, but his future in the sport is at stake.
