Dodgers News: Dave Roberts Doesn’t Think Anyone is Better Than Mookie Betts Right Now

After finishing a fantastic series against Cleveland, Dodgers superstar Mookie Betts has been hotter than the California sunshine at the plate in the past few weeks.
Ending the three game set with nine hits over 11 total at bats, Betts' performance has caught the attention of Dodger skipper Dave Roberts and plenty of others around the league.

Rain delays and tarp malfunctions amidst some awful Cleveland weather and groundskeeping, Betts was not shaken by any outside distractions away from the field of play in the games against the Guardians.
Going 5-for-5 on Wednesday's game that bled into the first game of a Thursday doubleheader, the superstar didn't seem fazed by two strike counts, inside pitches or other situations.
Only one thing was on the former Red Sox MVP's mind and that was to put the ball into play.
Raising his batting average by over 30 points in the last month, Betts has taken the mantle of the hottest Dodger hitter from Freddie Freeman.
Mookie Betts' stats this season (and NL ranks):
— Noah Camras (@noahcamras) August 25, 2023
.310 AVG (5th)
.405 OBP (3rd)
.605 SLG (1st)
1.010 OPS (1st)
34 HR (T-3rd)
89 RBI (4th)
34 2B (T-3rd)
105 R (2nd)
7.1 fWAR (1st)
He's played above-average defense at RF, 2B and SS. Right now, the Dodgers leadoff hitter is the MVP.
Both Betts and Freeman have been the engine to an LA offense that keeps on rolling down the road to victory after victory in the month of August.
Since the trade deadline, the Dodgers have the best record in baseball and the two MVP candidates are the keys that make the machine go.
Hitting as well as he has since his MVP season in 2018, Betts is well on his way to another top three finish if not winning the award should voters prefer his current pace more than Ronald Acuna Jr.'s perceived stranglehold for the award.
Though the Braves have been the best team in the league for more than a few months now, LA doesn't lag too far behind.
Should the Atlanta outfielder slow down, Betts' recent play might be enough to secure his second MVP and join Frank Robinson as the lone players in MLB history with MVP awards in both the AL and NL.
