Managers have little to no control over trades, and when they happen. That is mainly handled in the front office, but it seems like for the Dodgers, their front office listens to the manager and gets him what he wants.

Dave Roberts made an appearance on The Jim Rome Show on Friday, and Rome asked Dave what he would want the front office to do at the deadline.

Here was Roberts' answer:

"I love our vs. left and now with getting Kiké [Hernandez] back, getting [Amed] Rosario from Cleveland, I really love us versus left and I think right now if we can go get a leverage bullpen arm and a starter, I think that we got a good chance to make a run."

And not even half an hour after Jim Rome's show went off the air, the Dodgers front office pulled off a trade for exactly what Dave Roberts wanted: A leverage bullpen arm, and fan favorite, Joe Kelly, and their starter in Lance Lynn.

To do so, the Dodgers had to part with a top ten prospect, Nick Nastrini, along with Trayce Thompson and a AA reliever Jordan Leasure.

It's almost like Christmas came early for Dave Roberts and Friedman Claus came along and gave him everything on his wish list.

Roberts said it best why he wants what he wants at the deadline:

"I think for me, it's about pitching when you wanna win 11 games in October"

Pitching help could come in many ways. The Dodgers could either acquire it at the Deadline like they did with Lance Lynn and Joe Kelly, or they could play the long game with some of their talent that is coming back from injury.

Walker Buehler looks like he might be around for the last month of the season, and Ryan Pepiot will ultimately be ready to go for the Dodgers once he's fully healthy.

Plus with the emergence of Bobby Miller and Emmet Sheehan, the Dodgers seem like they'll be ready for yet another deep postseason run.

Who else do you want the Dodgers to trade for at the Deadline?
