Dodgers News: Dave Roberts Hopes Sunday Off Day Slows Down Diamondbacks for Game 2
The Dodgers had nearly a week in between their final regular season game against the San Francisco Giants and the first game of the National League Divisional Series, in which they fell 11-2 to the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Considering only three Dodgers accounted for a total of four hits, it is safe to say that the time off might have thrown some of the LA bats off after a long season packed with games.
It's yet another footnote in the age-old debate of rest versus rust. Saturday night, it was clear that the Dodgers were rusty.
So, with an off day in between Game 1 and Game 2 of the NLDS, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts is hoping that the off day will give his team a chance to catch their breath — and maybe add a bit of rust to the well-oiled machine that was the Diamondback offense Saturday night.
"I'm okay with the off day," Roberts said. "There's a big group of guys here that are ... guys want to show up and work out, which is great. I think the off day might kind of hopefully cool those bats down on the other side. So, yeah, I'm good with it. Our pen, the pitching, everything's lined up. I feel good about where we're at. So, yeah, I'm okay with it."

The Diamondbacks are fresh off of a dominant performance against the Milwaukee Brewers in the Wild Card round, winning both games by a combined score of 11-5.
The two teams will resume their series Monday night at 6:07 p.m. PDT, with Dodgers rookie pitcher Bobby Miller and Arizona veteran pitcher Zac Gallen set to take the mound.
