Dodgers News: Dave Roberts Reacts to Julio Urias' Arrest
Dodgers starting pitcher Julio Urias was arrested Sunday on suspicion of felony domestic violence. He has not been charged with a crime and is not in Miami with the rest of the team this week.
Urias was arrested under suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery in 2019, but was not charged with a crime. He was, however, suspended for 20 games for violating the MLB policy on domestic violence.
Urias will likely next be placed on administrative leave as the league continues its investigation. He would still receive his salary while on leave, but would not if he is eventually suspended.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts reacted to the news Tuesday, saying he was "shocked" to learn of Urias' arrest. He said that he could not say much on the subject due to the ongoing investigation.
Urias, who threw the final pitch of the Dodgers' 2020 World Series Championship run, has spent the last eight seasons, his entire career, with the Dodgers. This season, he has started 21 games with an 11-8 record, a 4.60 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP.
The Dodgers will be on the road for series against the Miami Marlins and Washington Nationals before returning to the West Coast.
