Dodgers News: Dave Roberts Reacts to Record Setting Foursome in the Middle of LA Lineup

Dave Roberts is impressed with the foursome that has 100+ RBI each.

Since the Dodger franchise moved to Los Angeles from Brooklyn, the pitching has carried the organization. This season has been different. The offense has carried the Dodgers to another National League Western Division title. Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Max Muncy, and J.D. Martinez have 100 or more RBI.

“It’s really impressive,” Dave Roberts said recently. “It just speaks to how talented these guys are. You gotta get guys on base, but the object of the game still is to score runs. You gotta produce runs. You gotta score runs and prevent runs. So for those four guys, they’ve had fantastic seasons. I tip my hat to them.”

Betts probably lost the National League MVP to Ronald Acuña, Jr., of the Atlanta Braves. If Acuña didn’t have 70 stolen bases and 40 home runs, Betts would have become the second player in MLB history to earn the MVP in both leagues. Any time a player has 105 or more RBI out of the leadoff spot in the lineup is special.

Freeman has had a monster year. He still has the opportunity to have sixty doubles this season. When the Dodgers needed a run, Freeman usually delivered with one of his 208 hits.

With Muncy, people shouldn’t look at the batting average. While he sometimes slumped, he produced mostly when the Dodgers needed him. His 36 home runs tied a career high.

While Martinez missed about two months of the season, he has 33 home runs and 102 RBI.

These players are the backbone of the outstanding Dodger offense.
