Dodgers News: Dave Roberts Surprised by Ryan Brasier's Ascent in LA Bullpen
The Dodgers are known for making sneaky additions, but none have been sneakier this season than RHP Ryan Brasier.
The Dodgers signed Brasier to a minor league deal in early June, in a move that very much flew under the radar.
It was unclear if Brasier would even play for LA this season, as he had a rough 7.29 ERA in 21 innings with the Boston Red Sox.
However, the Dodgers took a chance on him, and he's made it well worth their while.
In 20 appearances with LA, Brasier has thrown 21 innings, and is sporting an incredible 1.29 ERA and a minuscule 0.81 WHIP. He's been everything the Dodgers could have asked for and more, and has been a true blessing in this shaky bullpen.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts couldn't say enough good things about the Dodgers' newest shutdown reliever.
"He's had a tremendous impact," Roberts said. "I think probably a comparable would be what Chris Martin did for us last year. A guy you could trust in any spot. I love the compete, I love the pulse. He doesn't get too high, doesn't say a lot. Whatever we've needed from him he's done. For me, he's been a pleasant, pleasant surprise."

In a year where a lot of reliable arms have been anything but that, Brasier has been an incredible surprise for Los Angeles.
With the stretch run and postseason coming, they need as many reliable arms as they can get.
Brasier, who's thrown 12.2 career postseason innings, should provide a huge boost in October.
