Former Dodger champion Matt Beaty is back in the NL West, donning different colors this time. MLB insider and USA Today columnist Bob Nightengale announced the San Francisco Giants traded for former Dodger Matt Beaty from the Kansas City Royals.

Beaty will be on the Opening Day roster as the Giants will open their season against the New York Yankees. The 29-year-old has been a big leaguer for five seasons now, three of which were in Dodger blue.

Beaty debuted with LA in 2019 and was pretty solid in his time here. The lefty slashed .262/.333/..425 with a .758 OPS, 18 home runs, 91 RBIs, and 132 hits in 240 games and 503 ABs.

Before the start of the 2022 season, LA designated Matt for assignment, and the San Diego Padres then picked him up at the beginning of the 2022 season. He bounced around from the big leagues to the minors and ultimately elected for free agency in mid-September.

After that, Beaty signed with the Royals as a free agent in early January 2023 and was traded to the hated Giants today.

We wish Beaty the best, but not the Giants, and definitely not when he plays the Boys in Blue.
