Dodgers News: Freddie Freeman Avoiding Batting Title Talk
Baseball players are among some of the most superstitious athletes in sports. They don’t like to talk about any successes that they are having on the field, for fear that they will jinx themselves.
It’s one of the longest-standing traditions that has been carried down to different generations of players, and it remains today.
Some players believe in this more than others, allowing for some freedom in speaking. For Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman, he is trying to not let his production this season get to his head. He is currently in the running for the National League batting title, and he spoke on the success he has seen.
“No, because if you start thinking about that kind of stuff …,” Freeman said, raising the specter of a 2-for-20 stretch earlier this month."

Freeman is also in the running for the NL MVP award, showing the type of season that he is having. For the year, he is hitting .339 with 23 home runs and 86 runs batted in. It has been an impressive year where he has been consistent all season.
“We’re still in August so we can’t talk about that yet. The last few days, I’ve been hitting the ball hard finally, finding a lot more better, consistent swings during the games. I had about a week-and-a-half stretch where I had a lot of fly outs, cuts to the right. Just working through things again like you have to a couple times a year.”

The Dodgers are going to need Freeman to keep up this level of production as the year goes on. Freeman is determined to help this team win another World Series, and it has shown in his level of play. The All-Star is one of the engines that drives this squad, and they rely on him each night to lead the way.
