Dodgers News: Freddie Freeman Reveals What Jason Heyward Should Do Post Playing Career
This year's Dodgers team had multiple veterans in the locker room that were constantly providing leadership to the NL West Champions.
Even though he wasn't guaranteed a spot on the roster coming into spring training, Jason Heyward emerged as one of the biggest leaders on the team over the course of the season.
The 14-year veteran has had his own experiences playing on competitive teams that have gone deep in the playoffs and has even won the World Series. While the team fell short of the ultimate goal in 2023, it was a bonafide success for J-Hey who resurrected his career in LA and should be a finalist for the Comeback Player of the Year award in the National League.
At 34, Heyward still conceivably has a few years left in this game. But, his best friend Freddie Freeman recently spoke about what he thinks the Dodgers outfielder should do once he's finally done with baseball.
“He would be an amazing manager – if he wanted to. I just don’t know,” Freeman said, joking that Heyward might just take off for Montenegro where his wife has roots. “He has every quality you’d want. He’ll be able to do whatever he wants to do in this game because of how he’s conducted himself over his career and the person he is. They’ll want him around.”

If there's anyone in the Dodgers clubhouse who knows Heyward it is Freeman. The two both made their MLB debuts with the Braves in 2010 and spent five years as teammates.
Fast forward ten years later, the two could not have been more excited to reunite in Los Angeles.
Not only is Freeman predicting Heyward's post-baseball plans, but he might have given a hint to his own if Heyward would take the managerial route.
“Maybe he’ll ask me to be his bench coach,” Freeman said with a laugh.
Heyward is set to become a free agent and could very well reunite with the Dodgers this offseason.
