Dodgers News: Gavin Lux Finding Ways to Stay Relevant with Teammates
Sidelined for all of the 2023 season, Gavin Lux isn't just sitting on his hands and waiting til next year. Though he's not the Dodgers' starting shortstop the way he expected to be -- every kid's dream -- he's making sure he stays relevant with the team and with his teammates.
In speaking recently on AM570 LA Sports Radio, Lux shared the ways he's staying connected to the day to day of things with the Dodgers while he recovers from knee surgery.
“Obviously, you can’t play, so looking for ways to still be able to benefit from it and still being in the hitter’s meetings — still watching the game, still talking to your teammates and picking guy’s brains about how they’re feeling. Just little stuff like that I think keeps you stay connected and keeps you engaged. I think there’s a lot to learn by just watching games and I can’t tell you exactly what it is. But you know there’s stuff you can learn every game and I think JT (Justin Turner) was the one who told me that he’s like, ‘watch the games. Get off the iPad. Watch the game.’ You can learn a lot from just watching.”
He's not traveling with the team (perhaps explaining the 1-3 road trip so far) but he will be at every Dodger home game until his knee is strong enough for the next steps in his recovery.
Dodgers fans keep rooting for the kid from Kenosha!
