Dodgers News: JD Martinez Impressed by Jason Heyward's Ability to Be Productive and Be a Good Teammate
In his first season as a Los Angeles Dodger, Jason Heyward has proved to be not only a productive player on the field but a great addition to the clubhouse.
At 34, Heyward has seen plenty of action in Major League Baseball. In his 14th season, he's arguably having one of the best seasons of his entire career, batting .271/.346/.487 with 15 home runs and 40 RBIs. His 2.2 wins above replacement is the best since his first year as a Chicago Cub in 2017.
His production on the field hasn't taken away from his ability to help his younger teammates prepare for the difficulty that is stepping up to the plate in the league. His ability to multi-task ahead of games has won the admiration of at least one of his teammates.
"Jay's just a great guy all around," said outfielder J.D. Martinez. "It's impressive what he's able to do as far as handle his preparation for the game but also find time to be a good teammate and talk to other people and work with other guys."

Preparing to face a different pitcher every day is no small task, and taking the time to help one's teammates prepare is an underrated skill, according to Martinez, who is also a longtime veteran of Major League Baseball.
"It's a skill obviously I don't think I have," Martinez said. "You get so focused in the game and what you have to do and preparing your body and everything you gotta do, so kudos to him."
