For most of this season, the Dodgers’ starting rotation has toiled, but during the first 14 games of August, they have been terrific. And one MLB writer has taken notice.

Zachary D. Rymer of Bleacher Report ranked the top 10 starting rotations in the MLB, and the Dodgers came in at No. 4. Here's a part of what he had to say.

“But then there’s the 2.22 ERA it has in August. We’re still in small-sample-size territory for the month, to be sure, but that figure doesn’t feel like a fluke. It coincides with Lynn’s arrival from the White Sox, which he’s marked by allowing four runs in three starts, as well as an overdue heater on the part of Urías.”

The acquisition of Lance Lynn and the return of Clayton Kershaw have changed the complexion of the rotation. The Dodgers don’t have either Emmet Sheehan or Michael Grove in the rotation anymore. Sheehan needed more time in the minor leagues to mature as a pitcher. Grove, who is on the IL, was pitching better but still wasn't a great option every fifth day.

Lynn set the new standard when he pitched 7 innings in his first start as a Dodger. Following that, the Dodger starters have been going deeper into games. Additionally, Bobby Miller has continued to mature into a solid major league starter, with another dominant outing on Tuesday against the Brewers.

Having Ryan Yarbrough ready to take over a spot in the rotation pushes the starters to perform better. While the Dodgers have had a soft schedule to begin August when they have played the Athletics, the Padres, the Diamondbacks, and the Rockies, the starting pitching is still much, much better.
