Dodgers News: LA Pitching Coach Talks Loss Of Tyler Anderson

The Dodgers have a huge hole to fill with Tyler Anderson signing with the Angels
In this story:

The start of free agency didn't go as planned for the Dodgers as Tyler Anderson did not choose to accept the qualifying offer and almost immediately singed a three-year deal with the Angels. Anderson was one of the most consistent pitchers for the Dodgers leaving a huge hole to fill for the team.

The high level of play gave Anderson the payday he was looking for with a 15-5 record and 2.57 ERA during the 2022 season. The Dodgers will need to come up with a way to replace his production and may look to someone like Justin Verlander.

In the mean time, Dodgers pitching coach Mark Prior spoke to the media and echoed the value Anderson brought to the team. Replacing that sort of production will not come easy for the team.

“I mean he was a guy who had 180 innings for us. He was another stabilizing force who could eat innings when we needed to when we were in a pinch. And we were always in every game except I think one or two games, and even in those games he picked us up and went deep into a game to save our bullpen to give us a chance to win games down the line … I think all of us at the Dodgers are really excited and happy for him but it’s a big loss for us and our pitching staff.

Anderson will likely excel with his new team while the Dodgers struggles in the pitching unit may come into play much earlier in the season. The Dodgers will still remain a top team, but replacing Anderson is a must.
