The 2023 Los Angeles keep defying the odds that were against them to start the season. They were supposed to take a step back this season after losing a ton of talent in the offseason.

This was expected to be a growth type of year, to see what the young kids in the farm system could do. Many believed that they would still be competitive, but that it wouldn’t be as much as it was in previous years.

However, LA has exceeded expectations so far and currently holds one of the best records in all of baseball. They have won 17 of 19 games in the month of August and are rolling right now.

This recent winning surge has seen them jump out to a massive lead in the NL West division as we approach September. It has also seen them remain toward the top of the latest power rankings from MLB.com.

The Dodgers remained in place at No. 2 in the rankings.

“An injury-depleted pitching staff? A three-game

deficit

in the NL West in July? Not a problem for the Dodgers, whose potent lineup, led by Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts, has carried them to a comfortable division lead as we near the final month of the season. Los Angeles opened the week with a three-game sweep of the NL Central-leading Brewers and then took two of three from the Marlins. Despite being without ace Walker Buehler and other key pitchers through much of the season, here the Dodgers are with a 17-2 August record that has them eyeing yet another October run.”

Per MLB.com

It has been an impressive run for LA this season, even with some struggles along the way. They dealt with adversity early in the year, but have since rounded into form.

This team has learned how to win games in multiple ways, allowing them to work through the different challenges throughout the season. It has been a steady grind since July, and LA has received contributions from so many different players on their roster.

They are firing on all cylinders right now as they continue through the dog days of summer. LA has the look of a tough out come playoff time, and this team has a different feel to them than in the past few seasons.
