The 2023 season has been a trial for Max Muncy on the baseball field. However, over the last few games at Globe Life Field in Texas, the Dodgers third baseman has shown signs of coming out of a long offensive slump.

Muncy talked to the media after the game about what's going right during his recent resurgence.

“Just trying to get myself to relax. If I can get myself to relax and just trust in myself, I usually have pretty good results. Swing at strikes and taking balls, and not trying to do too much at the plate. Really, it’s just trying to get myself to relax.”

No one wants to succeed more than Muncy. Since the last day of the 2021 regular season in a horrible collision at first base when his elbow was dislocated, Muncy hasn’t been the same player.

This season Muncy’s incredible power has returned, but his batting average of .196 ranks among the lowest in the major leagues. He continues to have a fantastic knowledge of the strike zone, leading to 52 walks. Many Dodger fans criticized Muncy for his offensive and defensive performances, hinting Muncy doesn’t care about his performance.

Muncy is a highly competitive individual like all major leaguers. If he wasn’t, he wouldn’t ever have reached the major leagues. Since the Dodgers signed Freddie Freeman, Muncy has played out of position, but he has never complained since he wants to win another world championship with the Dodgers. If he is out of his batting slump, the Dodger offense will be more potent and ease the stress on the shaky pitching staff.
