In this story:

The Dodgers lost 5-2 to the Padres and to add injury to insult -- or illness to insult rather -- Max Muncy was pulled from the lineup before the 9th inning.

Manager Dave Roberts revealed the move came about while his slugger deals with flu-like symptoms, something he's been dealing with for the last few days.

Outfielder Trayce Thompson just returned to the team after spending two games plus the off day away from the field. So, there's certainly something to that.

There's no word yet on Muncy's availability for the rest of the series, but usually the third baseman hates missing games and will be in there if there's any chance he can.

Muncy with 0-2 with a first inning RBI. He left two runners on base over the rest of the game.

The Dodgers and Padres get back at it on Saturday with Dustin May facing Blake Snell. LA will have a little extra incentive after a brutally tacky display made by the organization after the game.
