Dodgers News: Miguel Vargas Talks About Learning From Miguel Rojas
The Dodgers are heading into the 2023 season with high expectations for up-and-coming star Miguel Vargas. The 23-year-old made his major league debut last season, and started to get going at the end of the year, even making the postseason roster.
This year, with all the big losses, the team will be relying on Vargas as a potentially everyday player — the injury to Gavin Lux probably only furthers that.
Luckily, Vargas has been spending a lot of time working in the infield this season, and even sought the assistance of one of the MLB's best infielder defenders in Miguel Rojas. The Dodgers traded for him in the offseason, and the move immediately paid dividends, as he began working with Vargas on his defense.
While we previously knew that the two of them worked together this offseason, it wasn't until this week that we knew exactly what they did. Doug McKain of Dodgers Nation got the information in an interview this past week.
"He helped me a lot," Vargas said to McKain. "We were talking about my glove position, how I have to move my legs, everything. We worked a lot, we worked a lot. I'm just glad for the way he helped me every day, and I'm just a lucky guy and I'm grateful for him."
You can watch the full interview here, and I highly recommend you do, as it'll only get you more excited for Vargas this season.
Vargas' bat is the more known commodity, so if he can work on getting his glove to be at an MLB level, he can really turn into a special player in this league.
