Dodgers News: MLB Analyst Thinks Dave Roberts Made Most Puzzling Move of MLB Postseason
Dodger manager Dave Roberts knew a climb to the 2023 World Series would be an uphill battle thanks to a lackluster rotation.
Just three healthy starters were at Roberts' disposal and all three options led to LA's impending doom in the NLDS.
Game 1 of the series wasn't his fault as Clayton Kershaw got ambushed in his lone inning of work.
Game 2 might have been Roberts' best managerial job yet after he yanked Bobby Miller due to poor command and kept the game within reach thanks to a dominant bullpen.
Game 3 however was inexcusable in one analyst's eyes and marked the final nail in the coffin for another 100-win regular season to an earlier October exit.
“Dave Roberts — another otherwise excellent manager — his season ended with Lance Lynn giving up four home runs in a single inning in an elimination game, and he is No. 1 in baseball in home runs allowed,” Kenny said. “How do you let your season end like that? That’s how it happened. Four home runs allowed. That’s my most puzzling.”

Lynn struggled with the home run ball all season long but remained LA's last resort to save their season in the third and ultimately final game of the NLDS.
His consistent issue during the first 162 games reared its ugly head as he allowed four solo shots to Diamondback hitters in the same inning.
LA ultimately lost the game 4-2 which can be pinned on Lynn but also their lackluster offense that fell silent in the biggest games of the season.
The Dodgers managed just two runs in each of their three losses to Arizona headlined by a combined 1-21 series from NL MVP candidates Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman.
Lynn all but finished the job with those poor stats and the Dodgers now head off for their most vital offseason in recent memory.
