With the major league trade deadline approaching fast, rumors are swirling just about everywhere. It is known that the Dodgers want Shohei Ohtani, but earlier in the week, the Angels’ owner Arte Moreno reportedly said he won’t trade Ohtani to his cross-town rivals.

Moreno’s jealousy of the Dodgers had led him to making this potentially bad business decision, and has disappointed many baseball pundits. One of the ESPN pundits didn’t get the news, though, and proposed a ridiculous trade offer from the Dodgers for Ohtani. Luckily, neither Brandon Gomes nor Andrew Friedman will deplete the Dodgers’ minor league system for one player, especially one who's a free agent in a few months.

The proposed trade wanted to send the Angels these minor leaguers: Nick Nastrini, Ryan Pepiot, Josue De Paula, Dalton Rushing, Emmet Sheehan, and Gavin Stone for Ohtani.

First, the Dodgers desperately need pitching, and this pundit didn’t understand Ohtani wouldn’t fully fill the Dodgers’ tremendous pitching need. Wednesday, Julio Urías allowed 8 runs in 5 innings, and this bad outing proves the Dodgers need starting pitching. Pepiot is on a rehab assignment after suffering from a terrible oblique strain at the end of spring training. Both Sheehan and Stone have performed in the major leagues, and the Dodgers need as many starters as they can get with Clayton Kershaw still out.

Any trade offer would definitely include Michael Busch who is tearing up AAA offensively, but doesn't have a spot on the MLB roster.

The Dodgers would maybe package four of these prospects together, but six a little bit much for a potential three-month rental.

I will propose my ridiculous trade offer for Ohtani. To get Ohtani, the Dodgers will give the Angels Max Muncy and Austin Barnes. If the Angels want another player, they can have Trayce Thompson. Clearly, this trade isn't happening, and the Dodgers will have to wait until free agency to land the two-way superstar.
