Dodgers News: Mookie Betts is Actually Better Than an All-Time MLB Great At This Point in His Career

This is just beyond unbelievable.

Whether or not people believe he should be in the Hall of Fame for doing steroids in the early 2000s, everyone can agree that Barry Bonds is one of the greatest hitters in MLB history.

Although the home run king put up some of the most ridiculous career numbers in MLB history, a current Dodger is on pace to either match or surpass Bonds in some statistical categories.

Through the first 1,231 games of his career, Mookie Betts has had a better batting average, hit more home runs, and drove in/scored more runs than Bonds ... seriously.

While it's beyond impressive that Betts has put up better numbers than Bonds at this point in their careers, age could definitely factor into whether or not he remains above him throughout his career.

It took until Betts was 30 years old for Betts to reach these stats. Bonds has a two-year headstart as he was 28 when he reached 1,281 career games played.

Bonds continued to play and set records until he was 42 years old. Nowadays playing into your 40s is not very common.

Mookie will be 39 when his contract with the Dodgers expires and will most likely be contemplating retirement at that point.

There isn't much more for Betts to do in his MLB career. He already won two World Series, an MVP and six Gold Gloves.

Then again, Bonds didn't stop when he had all of his accolades. At the age of 39, Bonds already won six MVPs and 12 Silver Sluggers. He would have three more seasons after that.

Betts is looking to catch up to Bonds when it comes to MVPs. His name is right in the middle of this year's race in the National League.

The Dodgers utility man leads the league in WAR at 6.4 and is one home run away from tying his career-high.
