Dodgers News: Mookie Betts Sets Record Straight Regarding New MLB Jerseys
This year, Nike unveiled new baseball jerseys that came with less-than-stellar reviews from fans and players alike. This made the new threads one of the hottest topics of spring training. The Dodgers were not exempt from these changes to their uniform.
For all teams, the nameplate on the back and number have smaller fonts. The nameplate has a more pronounced curve to it as well. The numbers show the perforations in the jersey. The MLB logo has shifted down off the collar.
For the Dodgers, their home uniforms will no longer be "wedding-gown white." The new off-white hue is especially conspicuous depending on the lighting. The split in the jersey now bisects the second "D" in "Dodgers," as opposed to being between the "O" and the second "D."
Last, and possibly most controversial of all: the new pants. First, they will not be as customizable as in the past. (Walker Buehler and Kiké Hernández might have something to say about that.) Second, teams with white pants have noted that they appear much more sheer, leaving little to the imagination.
Dodgers superstar Mookie Betts chimed in on the new jerseys in an interview with USA Today's Bob Nightengale:
It doesn’t matter to me. If we’re worrying about uniforms, I couldn’t care less. As long as I’ve got one on.

It's unclear if sweeping changes will be made to the jerseys with a month to go before opening day. Although, one game in the rain with a team wearing white might force someone's hand.
