Dodgers News: Mookie Betts Talks About What Makes This Team Better Than Last Year's
Does a team's chemistry matter?
Mookie Betts sure thinks so. He likes this Dodger team’s clubhouse personality better than any since he's been in Los Angeles.
"Since I’ve been a Dodger, we've had some very, very talented teams. This is not the most talented team that I've been on as a Dodger for sure. But, as far as team and playing for each other, I would say this is probably one of the better teams for me ever. Outside of my 2018 team with Boston, because we had that relationship as brothers, this team is awesome and it's it makes it different when you enjoy coming to work."
This team may not be as talented as last year's team that won 111 games, but that team didn't have what it took to win, especially come postseason time.
This year, the incredible mix of veterans and young players has been perfect.
"I think baseball's hard and we all understand that, right? But that doesn't mean we can't enjoy being around each other, even if we lose, right, we still enjoy, you know, we go back to the room, we're still laughing and joking, it's not that we don't take the game seriously, it's just that you're playing with your brothers here -- enjoying being around each other no matter win, loss or draw, you want the best for each other. I really think that's what's carried us this far."
The 2023 Dodgers remind us of the 1988 Dodgers who didn’t have the most talent on the field, but they played for the name in front of their jerseys instead of the name on the back. This team always plays hard and shows a ton of heart. While the pitching has struggled, the offense has picked them up, and many times in come from behind fashion.
