Dodgers News: Mutualistic Relationship Fuels Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Says Dave Roberts
One of the best things about sports is the player's relationships with one another. It’s always great to see the friendships that are formed and bonds that tend to last a lifetime.
It can happen with any player on a roster, but when the star players are close, it helps everything else grow even more.
For the Los Angeles Dodgers, that would be Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman. The two stars have grown closer since teaming up last season, and it has been special to watch.
They complement each other extremely well, and it has helped with the on-field success for LA. Manager Dave Roberts spoke about their relationship and how they use one another to motivate themselves.
“I really believe that if Freddie didn’t have Mookie, I would say that there would be less of a performance. And I just say that because Mookie just enhances Freddie’s whole joy of being a Dodger. And I certainly know that if there was no Freddie, Mookie, there would be a drop off in performance. Because Freddie pushes him. Not only Mookie, but he pushes everyone. And I think that it’s good for Mookie to have Freddie around.”

The two men are currently in the running for the National League MVP race. They give the Dodgers a strong one-two punch in their lineup, making life tough for opposing pitchers.
Both were very good prior to joining forces, but now with both in Los Angeles, you are seeing the damage done.
It has been special to see, and Roberts gets the best view of the duo each day.
“They’re definitely pulling for one another, helping each other. There’s certainly a mutual love and respect. It’s very unique to have two guys playing at such a high caliber.”

The Dodgers go as these two players do. They are going to need both All-Stars to continue playing at a high level if they want to reach their goal of winning another World Series.
