Dodgers News: Noah Syndergaard Has Been Historically Bad in His First Year in LA
Over the last few seasons, the Dodgers have been a place for players to join on one-year prove it deals to help get their careers back on track. They have especially been great about helping pitchers round back into form. When Noah Syndergaard signed with the team this offseason, he believed that he would be next in line for this. But his days in Dodger blue have gone as bad as can be and his future with the team is in doubt.
The former All-Star has seen his ERA ballon up to 7.16 for the season after an awful start against the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday. With the start in Cincinnati, Syndergaard made Dodger history and not in the good way.
Placing as the third-worst start to a season for a Dodgers pitcher isn't an easy feat to accomplish. The Dodgers have seen many pitchers come and go so it speaks volumes to just how bad Syndergaard has been with the team.
He is headed to the injured list due to a blister problem and afterwards, the hope is he can maybe get back to form. Something is definitely going on with Syndergaard because he isn't this bad of a pitcher, or at least the Dodgers didn't believe he was.
Luckily for the team, Julio Urías will be returning from his own injury this weekend and it will give the team some additional rotation pieces to work with.
Even after the IL stint for Syndergaard, he may be the odd man out of the rotation with young pitchers Bobby Miller and Michael Grove playing well. His time in Dodger blue may be coming to an end and honestly, it may not be the worst thing as this team continues their season.
