Dodgers News: Ryan Pepiot Still in the Dark Regarding Potential Postseason Role
Ryan Pepiot's season is quite frankly just beginning.
He suffered an injury in spring training that kept him out of the rotation for the majority of the year, and when he came back, it was nothing but lights-out stuff from the 26-year-old righty.
On his way back up to the majors, he won a couple of Player of the Week awards in the minors, and ever since being back on the big stage, he's had a 5-2 record, an ERA of 1.85 and 35 strikeouts over 7 games.
Obviously, that's enough to secure him a starting role in the playoff rotation, right?
Well, not exactly.
“I don’t know what kind of role I’ll play or anything," Pepiot said. "I haven’t been told anything. But whatever they ask of me, I’m ready to do. Obviously mechanics, pitches all feel good. So I’ll be ready for whatever is asked.”

That versatility has led to getting Pepiot more playing time in the big leagues. Being able to work out of the bullpen, but also being able to start is a great skill to have.
Another name to look out for on the postseason roster is Kyle Hurt.
He had a very strong outing when he made his one appearance of the year, and the Dodgers could definitely use some help in the bullpen if they want to keep Pepiot in the starting rotation.
The rotation for the postseason is going to be young no matter what. Clayton Kershaw and Lance Lynn are the two veterans, but then that's followed up with rookies.
Bobby Miller is going to be in there, and then Pepiot seems to be fighting for that last spot. Emmet Sheehan could earn it, too, but he could also be more of a piggyback guy.
