Dodgers News: Trayce Thompson Talks Addition of David Peralta
The Dodgers avoided the big splashes in free agency this offseason but the front office still did its part to add some veteran pieces to the roster heading into the new season. One of those guys was long-time rival David Peralta.
The former Dbacks outfielder agreed to a one year deal with LA to bring another left-handed bat into the outfield mix after the team let Cody Bellinger go. So far, it seems like Peralta has fit right in with the club. So much so, his teammates already adopted his "choo choo train" celebration after base hits.
Trayce Thompson recently talked to reporters about Peralta.
“He’s been a big addition to this team. Not just who he is as a player — everyone knows what he brings to the game as a player and a teammate — but his energy and passion for the game is something that I think we’re all really excited to see and be around every day.”
Manager Dave Roberts shared the same sentiment about the veteran outfielder. The energy he brings and the complete package of a ballplayer is huge for the team.
“I just love the way he plays every game like it’s his last. There’s a fire, there’s an energy he brings. He’s an intelligent baseball player. … He’s a very unselfish ball player. So what I kind of hoped I’d see from him is exactly what he’s done.”
Things have started slowly for DP. Through 12 games he's hitting just .154, but his track record says the numbers will be there by game 162.
