Dodgers News: Walker Buehler Answers Question Regarding Impending Free Agency
Dodgers right-handed pitcher Walker Buehler headlines the 2025 starting pitcher free agency class. His free agency would come at the age of 30 after making his return in 2024 from his second Tommy John surgery.
In a recent article published by Rowan Kavner of Fox Sports, Kavner reports that Buehler has not given the idea much thought recently. He seems more focused on returning to the mound and contributing to a promising Dodger squad.
"I still haven't gotten to pitch in a major-league game since two Junes ago. So, I think the other stuff kind of fades, at least for a while, right? Honestly, I probably won't think too much about it until it happens. But I obviously love it here and love our team, so we'll see what happens."

The right-hander started 12 games in 2022 before being shut down and undergoing his second Tommy John surgery. Rumors circulated last year that he would make a push to return in the fall, but that never happened.
He appears healthy and excited to pitch again, but his timeline to return is not clear. With no immediate need for him in the rotation, the front office is delaying his return until later in the spring — how much later no one knows.
Beyond wanting to win a championship, this is an important year for Buehler. He could set himself up well for a payday if he performs up to his pedigree.
While a return to Los Angeles in 2025 would surely be welcome, there might not be room for Buehler. The rotation feels crowded already with Tyler Glasnow, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Bobby Miller all under contract for 2025.
Then, if all goes well, the Dodgers have a bevy of players returning from injury to the rotation — Shohei Ohtani, Dustin May, and Tony Gonsolin. On top of that, Clayton Kershaw could return as well if he picks up his player option.
So much can happen between now and free agency. So, as Buehler said, it might be best not to think too much about it until it happens.;
