Dodgers News: Walker Buehler Should Be Fully Ready for Spring Training
Last week, the Dodgers announced the disappointing news that Walker Buehler would not pitch in the 2023 season.
While it appeared that Buehler was close to a return when he started his rehab assignment in Triple-A, that seemed to not be the case.
Despite being shut down in his return from Tommy John, Dave Roberts believes that Buheler will be ready for Spring Training in 2024.
"I think so. Seeing that he got back into live competition, he should be able to have a regular offseason and winter to build strength. I'm not the head trainer, but that's my assumption," said Roberts. (Via Sportsnet LA)
Although he was perfect in his only rehab appearance with Oklahoma City, Roberts did say that he had some soreness coming after his start.
The result of Buehler's soreness is what led the Dodgers to shut down Buehler for the rest of the season.
In his one appearance, Buehler tossed two perfect innings including two strikeouts. He reached 96 with his fastball which is where he was at pre-injury.
While Dodgers fans may be disappointed that one of the team's top pitchers won't be back for this year's postseason, they can expect to see the Buehler from 2021.
In his last fully healthy season, Buehler was 16-4 with a 2.47 ERA and 0.968 WHIP. He was an All-Star and finished fourth in Cy Young voting.
