Dodgers News: Writer Predicts Freddie Freeman Makes History in MLB's Second Half

This would be incredible history.
In this story:

Everyone who is following the Los Angeles Dodgers knows Freddie Freeman is having another magnificent season. In 2023, Freeman has been double trouble for the opposition.

As of the All-Star break, Freeman has 31 doubles. Only six times in MLB history has a Major Leaguer had 60 or more doubles in a season.

Over at Bleacher Report, though, Joel Reuter thinks Freeman could be in for a historic season:

"Los Angeles Dodgers star Freddie Freeman leads the majors with 31 doubles, putting him on pace for 56 this year, so he will need to pick up the pace a bit in order to make history.

"However, if his 17-double performance in May is any indication, he is capable of piling up two-base hits when he's swinging it well."

During his Major-League career, including the 2023 season, Freeman has been a model of consistency. Dave Roberts says that Freeman is the only Major Leaguer who doesn’t take off a pitch. He wants to play every game. He prepares for every game the same regardless if he is hot or he is in a slump. Every baseball player should admire Freeman.

In May, Freeman had the greatest month since he became a Dodger. During May, Freeman had a .400 batting average with 6 home runs and 17 doubles. This incredible performance earned him the National League Player of the Month.

Freeman isn’t known for his running speed, but might be one of the best baserunners in the Majors. He leads the Dodgers with 13 stolen bases, and his incredible baserunning knowledge enables him to turn singles into doubles and helps the Dodgers score many unlikely runs.

Getting 60 doubles in a season is an unlikely feat, which might be overlooked by the national media. Freeman may join baseball history in another category.
