Dodgers Notes: Urias Mural Painted Over at Dodger Stadium, J Hey Kid, Letting Machado Leave LA
The Dodgers went into Seattle with a chance of locking down a division crown and they did just that. Following Saturday's NL West clincher, Dave Roberts ran the "B Squad" out on Sunday afternoon looking for a sweep of the Mariners. A lineup with Freddie, Mookie, Smitty, and others on the bench did just that.
Next, they come home for the final homestand of the regular season.
When the team does get home, things will look a little different for fans at Dodger Stadium as the organization continues to distance itself from Julio Urias amid his legal troubles. While the Dodgers were playing in Seattle, a famous mural painted by renowned local artist Jonas Never was touched up to remove Urias from the center and replace the embattled pitcher with Will Smith and Austin Barnes.
A planned bobblehead night and other depictions and memorabilia featuring Urias have also been eliminated.
In other news, over the weekend, a San Diego journalist put together an in-depth column on Padres' star third baseman Manny Machado. In the column, the journalist shines a light on Manny's leadership qualities which had Dodgers fans feeling even better about the team's decision to let him walk after a brief 2018 cameo.
And finally, following a monster weekend, everyone is talking about Dodgers minor league signing Jason Heyward.
