Dodgers Reliever Put Together 'Normal' Offseason After Missing Entire 2023 Season

The veteran is expected to return for the start of Spring Training.

Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Blake Treinen is working towards a return in 2024 after missing the entire 2023 season.

Treinen underwent shoulder surgery to repair his labrum and rotator cuff in November 2022.

He was lit up in his lone rehab outing in Triple-A Oklahoma City and allowed three runs in just over an inning of work. The reliever was pulled off his rehab assignment following the poor outing.

Before his injury, Treinen was highly dependable out of the bullpen. In 2021, he pitched 72.1 innings and recorded 32 holds and seven saves (11 opportunities).

His earned run average was 1.99, appearing in 72 games with 85 strikeouts and 25 walks. Opponents hit .179 against him, and he finished the year with a record of 6-5.

In an interview with The Athletic's Fabian Ardaya, general manager Brandon Gomes said Treinen would "be a full go for the Dodgers in Spring Training."

“It’s really just get set up to go out and dominate and have a regular offseason and come into the year in a much more regular setup than he’s had over the last few years."

Treinen was the only option that the Dodgers picked up this offseason and is on the books for only $1 million. If he can return to his former self, he could prove to be a bargain.
