As the Dodgers kick off the second half of the season, they'll do so with reinforcements on the bench. The club announced the return of infielder/outfielder Chris Taylor, who was activated off the 10-day IL after missing 14 games with a knee issue. In addition to Taylor, the club also officially announced the signing of veteran outfielder Jake Marisnick and added him to the active roster.

In a corresponding move, rookie outfielder Jonny DeLuca was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City. Additionally, RHP Shelby Miller was transferred from the 15-day IL to the 60-day as he deals with a neck issue.

Taylor has been out since June 21 with a right knee bone bruise he had been dealing with for a few weeks. He told reporters on Friday that he feels fine now and is "happy to be back" with his teammates. In 59 games this season, CT3 is hitting .206 with a .730 OPS fueled by 18 extra base hits.

Marisnick joins the team after being signed to a major league deal on Thursday. The veteran outfielder takes the place of rookie Jonny DeLuca who was sent back down to AAA where he can pick up more regular playing time.

The worst news from this busy Friday afternoon is the update on Shelby Miller. The reliever has been out for the last month with a neck injury that was a little worse than originally thought. He had been superb for the Dodgers this season, posting a 2.30 ERA in his first season as a full time reliever. The earliest he can return now is mid-August.
