Dodgers relief pitcher Ryan Yarbrough made his first start for LA, lasting four innings and allowing two earned runs. The Dodgers acquired Yarbrough from the Kansas City Royals at the trade deadline. He proved to be a solid reliever in August, with a 1.86 ERA across six games.

Now, Yarbrough has bigger things to focus on, namely the birth of his second daughter.

Yarbrough will begin paternity leave and reunite with the team when they travel to Seattle for a three-game series beginning Sept. 15.

"They've been pretty crazy," Yarbrough said after the Dodgers' 7-3 win over the Washington Nationals regarding how the last few days have been for him. "Just super blessed to be able to be their for those experiences, it's something that you always want to be there for, something that you're never gonna want to miss."

Yarbrough said that both his newly-born daughter and his wife were completely healthy and were doing well.

"Everything was smooth, everything was great," Yarbrough said. "I'm excited to just go be with them for a couple days."

In addition to Yarbrough's brief departure, Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw's start is being pushed to Friday. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that Kershaw's shoulder was not a factor in the decision, but that it was just a matter of lining up future starts.

Gavin Stone will start Monday in replacement of Kershaw due to the open roster spot left by Yarbrough.

Stone's last start was less than ideal, as he allowed four earned runs across six innings against Boston. His season ERA is 10.50 across just five appearances.

Stone and the Dodgers will take on the San Diego Padres Monday at 7:10 p.m. PDT.
