Dodgers Rumors: General Manager Declined Interview to Take Over American League Team

Interesting situation here...
In this story:

With all the success that the Dodgers have seen over the years, it has shown other clubs what they could have, as well. While it hasn't always translated to World Series wins, the Dodgers have been consistent during the regular season.

As the old saying goes, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and the Dodgers are consistently getting imitated.

It has seen the team lose players and different personnel over the years, as others try to emulate their success. And it seems that it almost happened again this winter out East.

Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes was asked to interview with the Boston Red Sox to become their leading man, but he turned down the interview. There had been some talk about Gomes potentially leaving the organization this winter for another role, but he made it clear that he wants to stay in Los Angeles in his exit interview earlier this week.

"I’m very flattered and appreciate the interest, but I love it here and my family loves it here."

Gomes was one of multiple candidates around the league to turn down the chance to interview with the Red Sox, so there may be something working against Boston.

The Dodgers had lost a few members of their front office over the years, but they'll fortunately be keeping a key piece. The former pitcher joined LA after he retired in 2016, and he has worked his way up the ladder since.

Gomes has earned the respect of the most important people in the Dodgers organization, and he is a trusted member of the front office.

Gomes has been the right-hand man for president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman, and the way the roster has been constructed has his fingerprints all over it. He has been in lockstep with Friedman on personnel decisions, and him staying is a big win for LA.
