Dodgers Rumors: Insider Pegs LA as Top Landing Spot for 2 Relievers This Trade Deadline
The final week of the MLB Trade Deadline has arrived, and there's lot of movement and talks about what will happen before the August 1st deadline.
The Dodgers have some moves to make if they want to gather fresh reinforcements from the trade market, in hopes of making a nice run in the postseason.
MLB.com's, Mark Feinsand, has generated a list of players who are most likely to be traded this week, and there are three players that are linked to the Dodgers.
Those players are White Sox RHP Lucas Giolito, Mets RHP David Robertson, and Royals RHP Scott Barlow, although Giolito is now with the Angels. So let's talk about the relievers.
Scott Barlow has been having a lot of trouble in the walks category, but is very good at creating weak contact and having batters reach at out-of-the-zone pitchers.
Barlow also ranks in the top five percent in both average exit velocity and hard-hit percentage. He would be a great add to a struggling (but improving) LA bullpen.
David Robertson is in a very similar situation to Giolito, an impending free agent. The only big factor that could possibly make the Dodgers hesitant for a pursuit is his age.
The 38-year-old signed a one-year, $10 million deal this past offseason with the Mets, which means he'll be joining Giolito for free agency.
Despite his contract situation, Robertson has shown he can handle both setup and closing roles and has a healthy amount of postseason experience, making him a fit for pretty much every contender out there. He would be a huge addition to the 'pen.
