The Dodgers plan of making an aggressive run at Shohei Ohtani this winter is no secret. Everyone in baseball knows about it, and the team has been gearing up for it for a while now.

They want Ohtani in Dodger Blue badly and have tried to land him a few other times in the past unsuccessfully. But this time around, they have a great chance.

Not only would the Dodgers give Ohtani an excellent opportunity to win at the highest level, but they also can provide him with the financial backing he will want. They are one of the few teams in the league that can afford the historic salary that will be his this winter.

Many around the industry believe that LA is the frontrunner for his services, which has been known. This includes Zachary Rymer from Bleacher Report, who predicts that Ohtani will join LA this winter on a massive contract. Rymer has Ohtani joining the Dodgers on an 11-year deal worth $550 million.

“Of the small handful of teams that can hypothetically do a deal like that, none is in better position to actually do it than the Dodgers. Their payroll commitments are about to be more than cut in half, which is to say nothing of their ability to scratch Ohtani's worsening itch to win and the mutual admiration between himself and Mookie Betts.”

Per Bleacher Report

If Ohtani does join the Dodgers, it would be great for the sport. The best player in the game would finally have a shot to play in the postseason, and he would be playing in the second-largest city in the United States.

Despite being close to Los Angeles right now with the Angels, Ohtani doesn’t get all the benefits of being a Dodger. The team would make sure he is happy, and the marketing money that he would receive would be insane.

The two fit together well and would give LA the biggest show in the game. Only time will tell if Ohtani will join the Dodgers, but there seems to be a ton of optimism around baseball circles.
