Dodgers Rumors: LA Among Top Landing Spots for Likely Cy Young Winner in Free Agency

The Dodgers witnessed firsthand just how dominant Padres ace Blake Snell pitched in the 2023 season as a division rival.

Snell picked a great time to perform so well as he now enters the free agency market as the likely winner of the 2023 Cy Young award.

LA desperately needs starting pitching help after their disastrous October and the lefty could be an option should he choose to stay in Southern California. 

On May 19, Snell was 1-6 with a 5.40 ERA after nine starts, leading many to project that he was costing himself a ton of money in free agency. From that point forward, he was arguably the best pitcher in baseball, going 13-3 with a 1.20 ERA over his final 23 starts. Snell, the 2018 American League Cy Young Award winner, could add a second Cy Young to his résumé this season, which would make the left-hander only the seventh pitcher to earn that honor in both leagues.

Dodger fans first got a true taste of the Blake Snell experience after he dominated them through five-plus innings in Game 6 of the 2020 World Series. 

In a managerial move that's still discussed today, Rays skipper Kevin Cash took the Seattle native out of the game despite just over 70 pitches and minimal contact all night long. 

Dave Roberts and his team secretly thanked their lucky stars as LA attacked Tampa's bullpen and eventually won the championship that night. 

The Rays controversially traded Snell to San Diego that offseason and his third year with the Friars made him more than a pretty penny. 

Should he win the NL Cy Young this season, Snell will join some exclusive company as just the eighth man in MLB history to win the award in both leagues. 

His walk numbers may scare some suitors off but his results can't be denied as one of the game's best arms.
