Dodgers Rumors: LA Listed as Top Landing Spot for All-Star Starting Pitcher

LA's a candidate to make a splash at the trade deadline.
In this story:

It's pretty much common knowledge that the Los Angeles Dodgers could stand to upgrade their starting rotation, with multiple rookies currently occupying spots in the starting five.

An injury to Clayton Kershaw and shaky performances from Julio Urias only heightens the urgency as the Dodgers look to take a firm grasp on first place in the NL West.

With all that it mind, it looks like LA will be in the market for another rotation arm with the August 1 trade deadline approaching, and that help could come in the form of MLB All-Star Marcus Stroman.

Stroman is in the midst of a resurgent season for the Chicago Cubs -- he boasts a 3.09 ERA and 1.14 WHIP -- but with his team languishing far away from a playoff spot, the Cubs' brass look like they may be in a selling mood.

Bleacher Report's Zachary D. Rymer listed the Dodgers as Stroman's top landing spot at the deadline, and it surprisingly wouldn't take that much to bring him west according to the writer.

Rymer has the Dodgers acquiring Stroman and $3 million in cash from Chicago in exchange for minor league starter Nick Frasso.

Frasso's having a solid season for the Double-A Tulsa Drillers, pitching his way to a 3.64 ERA this year with an explosive fastball being his best offering.

That has the 24 year old righty listed as the No. 8 prospect in the organization and the No. 63 overall prospect in baseball.

Frasso has good qualities to him, namely the fastball that can reach 100 MPH and an improving changeup, but if the Dodgers were able to grab Stroman with just Frasso, it'd be quite the bargain for LA.

One thing that may be driving down Stroman's value is the fact that he can opt out of his contract after this season, but even giving up Frasso for a rental as good as Stroman has been this year would be well worth it.
