Dodgers Rumors: Writer Thinks LA Should Add All-Star Pitcher, Shortstop Ahead of Trade Deadline

LA should be on the phone now!

The Dodgers have a clear need for some help as the trade deadline approaches. Nobody knows what exactly the team will do but pitching seems to be the most pressing matter right now, followed by possibly another bat.

LA is right in the thick of things for a playoff spot and possibly the NL West division crown despite all the issues that they have faced this season. They have flashed some greatness but also remain relatively inconsistent on a nightly basis, so something needs to change.

Zachary Rymer of Bleacher Report proposed multiple trades that could help get LA back on track. One of them involved the Chicago White Sox with the team getting some help in multiple areas.

"

Dodgers get RHP Lucas Giolito and SS Tim Anderson, White Sox get RHP Nick Frasso and C Jesus Galiz

: A straight-up trade involving Frasso technically works, but the White Sox would be able to push for

at least

one more prospect if Anderson does heat up. As a defense-first catcher with power potential, Galiz is precisely what they should want behind the plate in the long run."

Per Bleacher Report

Let’s start with Anderson. He would give the Dodgers some immediate help at the shortstop position and he has been linked to LA for quite some time now. On the year, Anderson is hitting just .235 with 12 runs batted in. He hasn’t hit a home run this season, yet which is surprising because he normally averages about 15-20 a season. It has been a slow start for Anderson this season but maybe working with a new hitting team could help him. Given the season that Anderson has had so far, he could be had for cheap.

Getting Anderson would give the team a more reliable option at the position as they head down the stretch towards the postseason. He has a club option for next season so the team could always see how things go and then decide his future.

Now the main player in this deal would be Lucas Giolito. He has had a good season for Chicago, holding an ERA of 3.50 over 18 starts. Giolito would give LA some needed stability in their starting rotation and another guy who they could rely on come playoff time.

Giolito is scheduled to be a free agent at the end of the season so it would make sense for the White Sox to move him for something.

Now this trade is hypothetically possible, but I do think it would take a little more to acquire both Anderson and Giolito. The White Sox hold both in high regard and parting with them won’t come easy. But the Dodgers do have the pieces that Chicago may want. If the two sides do indeed engage with each other this deadline, it could be beneficial for both parties.
