They would have had a tweet of the year candidate.

If you haven’t been watching baseball or going on social media recently, you’ve missed quite the hullabaloo.

After the Padres’ 5-2 win on Friday over Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers, the Padres showed their lack of class. They decided to put a picture of a crying Clayton Kershaw on their Jumbotron, with a tear coming down his face.

Kershaw has won more himself than anyone who has ever put on a Padres uniform, but we don’t need to open that can of worms right now. It’s good to move on from that — like Kershaw said — which is probably why one Dodgers social media outlet decided to delete one of their recent tweets.

After the Dodgers won game No. 2 of the series on Saturday, Spectrum SportsNet LA — the Dodgers television broadcast channel — decided to post a meme of their own on social media.

They posted a picture of the Padres’ Jumbotron, with a picture of Clayton Kershaw holding up his World Series ring. Take a look for yourself:

They ultimately ended up deleting it, but I’m honestly not sure why. The post didn’t take a shot at the Padres, and instead just gave Clayton Kershaw his flowers.

Dodger fans weren’t too happy to see the tweet deleted, but clearly someone in the higher ups of the account didn’t like it. But at least we’ll always have the deleted screenshot, and Dodger fans can post it every time the Dodgers beat the Padres.

The teams are getting set for the rubber match of the series on Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN. All eyes will be on the Jumbotron following the final out.
