With the 2023 season coming up, FanGraphs’ Steamer projections recently listed who would be some of the top home run hitters on each respective team.

Although key players like Aaron Judge, Mike Trout, and Kyle Schwarber were highlighted, so was the Dodgers’ Mookie Betts. Betts was projected to hit 30+ homers this season

“Dodgers: Mookie Betts (31)

Betts is projected to be the only Dodger to reach the 30-homer mark for the second straight season.”

Betts is coming off a career-high 35-homer season where he finished with a .269 AVG. Other standouts on the team last season were Freddie Freeman and Trea Turnout who both had 21 home runs.

Although Turner has now left for Philly, Los Angeles added J.D. Martinez to the squad, who hopes to deliver as another strong hitter for the team. Last season, the outfielder hit 16 homers and a .274 AVG. Throughout his career, Martinez has proven just how dominant he is:

  • 2021 with the Red Sox: 28 HR and .286 AVG
  • 2019 with the Red Sox: 36 HR and .304 AVG
  • 2018 with the Red Sox: 43 HR and .330 AVG (career high in both categories)
  • 2015 with the Tigers: 38 HR and .282 AVG

The veteran has impressive skills, but so does the young prospect James Outman.

"Keep an eye on … James Outman (16): Between Double-A and Triple-A last season, Outman hit 31 home runs in 125 games, and there should be room for him in the outfield."

The 25-year-old made a lasting first impression last season. His first major league at-bat ended up being his first major league hit and a home run. Outman shows incredible potential and is already in good standing given that he earned his spot on this list with some of the most experienced players.
