Each season, we see the Dodgers being linked with some of the better free agents out there, and that is an ode to how the team has built themselves up. They are favorites to land some of them, even this winter, and the organization has put itself into a strong position to be successful.

But President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman believes that this narrative is for a reason, and not just financially motivated. He outlined his thinking in an exclusive interview with DodgersNation.com.

"Look, forgetting just Shohei, I think if a player who is a free agent, really cares about winning, I think you can look back and then look ahead and I would argue we're the best positioned of any team. Now, I'm sure other teams would argue differently and I totally get that and respect it, but I think what we have demonstrated, where are core players are today, the strength of our farm system, our financial flexibility and you could look out for the next five to seven [years] and make a very compelling argument. And so I think that resonates with free agent players, at least I hope it does. And it's something that I think is meaningful in a lot of guys decisions that are going through this."

The Dodgers are one of the few clubs across baseball that have both the financial capabilities to succeed, while also having a strong farm system to supply the team with talent going forward. It has been hard work for this organization to build, but players around the league see the dedication to success.

While the postseason results haven’t always been there, LA continues to be ahead of the curve as an organization. They have a plan to win right now and five-plus years down the line, which is something that most teams can’t truly say about themselves.

This resonates with potential free agents, and that is why the Dodgers are always linked to players. And sometimes they end up landing them as well.

The team has a chance to do something special this offseason and upgrade their roster for the foreseeable future. The hope is that they can do that, and give themselves a strong chance to win the World Series starting in 2024.
