Finally, the Los Angeles Dodgers will play a baseball game against another team!

The Dodgers take the field today against the San Diego Padres in their first Cactus League exhibition game.

For the Dodgers, Gavin Stone will get the start today with Michael Grove piggybacking. These are meaningful starts for two players looking to earn playing time at the major league level.

Joe Musgrove will start for the Padres. Following him, the Padres will use a bevy of bullpen arms to finish the game.

The game will start at 12:10 PST from the Peoria Sports Complex.

How to Watch

  • SportsNet LA will televise the game and stream the game on its app for those living in the Los Angeles area.
  • ESPN will air the game for out-of-market customers
  • AM 570 will be the place to listen to the English broadcast of the game
  • KTNQ (1020-AM) will broadcast the game in Spanish
  • Fans living in San Diego can listen to the game on KWFN (97.3-FM)

Predictions

This early in spring training players are still getting acclimated to being back on the field. They can also be working on something to get prepared for the regular season.

Hitters might swing at just fastballs and pitchers might be trying to land a new breaking ball. Managers will also try to get non-starters playing time, so don't expect the starters to stay in for very long.

With pitchers having reported early they still have the upper hand on the batters. Expect few runs scored as batters continue to get used to big-league pitching. Final score: Padres 3, Dodgers 1.

More

Shohei Ohtani will not be in the lineup today as he continues to rehab from offseason elbow surgery. However, he is slated to face Yoshinobu Yamamoto in live batting practice today.
