Former Dodger David Price is taking the 2023 season off. While he didn't want to officially make a retirement announcement, we know he isn't going to be pitching this year. It feels like the 37-year-old is probably done with the game of baseball, but we can't decide when it's his time to retire — only he can.

In the meantime, as he isn't playing in the MLB this season, Price was at a Players Alliance event honoring Dodgers legend Jackie Robinson. And at the event, he was asked who his current favorite player to watch is. He picked a longtime teammate of his: Dodgers superstar Mookie Betts.

"Mookie," Price said. "He's playing shortstop now. He's doing it all."

Betts and Price were teammates in Boston from 2016 to 2019, winning a World Series together in 2018 (against the Dodgers).

Then, they were traded together to the Dodgers in 2020, and, of course, won a World Series together that year, too.

Then, they spent the next few years together in Los Angeles, until Price's year off from the game of baseball.

However, in the interview, Price says he still talks to Betts all the time, including before he came to the event.

I love that Price shouted out Mookie's move to shortstop, as it's something that's taken the MLB world by storm. Betts, a six-time Gold Glove Award winner in right field, has now appeared in three games at shortstop, because the Dodgers are in desperate need of help there. And not only is he playing the position well, but he looks like someone who's been playing it for 10 years.

Betts is likely to continue playing some shortstop for the Dodgers as they continue to deal with injuries in the infield. And as he does, Price, just like the rest of us, will continue to marvel at his excellence no matter where he is on the field.
