It was announced this morning that after four years with the San Francisco Giants, Gabe Kapler has been relieved of his managerial duties.

Kapler was the Director of Player Development for the Dodgers between 2014-2017 before he became the manager of the Philadelphia Phillies for two years and then came over to the Bay with the Giants in 2020.

During his time with the Phillies, the team went 161-163 in his two years finishing in the bottom half of their division both times. He was dismissed by the team after his second season.

Kapler got hired by the Giants in 2020 and went 29-31 in the 2020 shortened year but things looked bright after the 2021 season that saw the Giants win 107 games and win the NL West division title in a close race with the Dodgers.

Kapler won Manager of the Year for the team's incredible 2021 season.

In 2023, the Giants were in the midst of the playoff race at the All-Star break but following three consecutive losing months of baseball, the Giants will end 4th in the NL West, currently sitting 3 games under .500.

Since then, Kapler has gone back to pretty much managing a .500 record team going 81-81 in 2022 and 78-81 in 2023, not being able to finish out the year with the team, but at best they would have ended with an even 81-81 record.

The Giants will be on the lookout for a new manager this offseason and the biggest name expected to hit free agency would be the Milwaukee Brewer's manager Craig Counsell.
