Former Dodger Justin Turner Goes Viral For Reaction to Horrendous Strike 3 Call
Baseball is not a perfect game by any means. And that is completely okay with most fans.
However, the call for robot umpires continues to grow across Major League Baseball. Understandably, there will be some sense of human error from umpires, but lately, it seems that more obviously bad calls are being made.
Baseball is a beautiful sport because it does allow for more human error than others. In fact, it was a fight just to get managerial reviews into the game a few years ago.
But this is getting to be a big problem, and something needs to be done.
Former Dodger Justin Turner went viral on Tuesday night for his reaction to a called third strike during the fourth inning of a game for the Boston Red Sox against the Washington Nationals. You can see the pitch here and make your own judgment call.
It was clear that it was a ball and way off the plate. But Turner was called for the punch out. His reaction said it all, and even the announcers were amazed at how poor of a call it was.
Turner’s wife, Kourtney, took to Twitter to express her feelings about the call as well.
Umpires get some margin for error, but this is ridiculous. Things seem to have been getting out of hand more often of late.
The integrity of the game is at stake here, and if something like this happens in a playoff game, it will be a travesty. We've seen it before in other sports leagues, but the hope is that it doesn't happen in the MLB.
Sports will never be perfect, but when things like this happen, something needs to change.
