The Los Angeles Angels have designated former Dodgers infielder Jake Lamb for assignment, the team announced on Friday.

Lamb, who signed a minor league deal with the Halos in the offseason, ended up earning MLB playing time this season, and had an up and down stay.

In 18 games, Lamb ended up hitting .216/.259/.353 with two home runs and five runs batted in. He struck out in 15 of his 51 at-bats, and played exclusively at first base.

Lamb was designated for assignment as the team brought up a pitcher and reinstated Anthony Rendon off the injured list, and Lamb now heads to waivers looking for his next home.

Lamb, who spent a part of the 2022 season with the Dodgers, could be an interesting pickup for LA.

Last year with the Dodgers, Lamb slashed .239/.338/.433 with two home runs, five doubles and four RBIs in 67 at-bats. He ended up finishing the year with the Seattle Mariners after the Dodgers let him go, where he struggled mightily.

Now, Lamb will be looking for his new home, as he continues to bounce around the league.

The 32-year-old was an All-Star back in 2017 with the Arizona Diamondbacks, but hasn't been able to find a consistent home since his time ended there in 2020.

It's unlikely the Dodgers bring Lamb back, but he has proven he can still play at the MLB level, and the Dodgers could use some extra infield depth. Signing him to a minor league deal wouldn't hurt, and the Dodgers could decide to give him an opportunity at some point down the road.
