Former Dodgers Infielder Shouts Out Freddie Freeman as 'Best Hitter in Baseball'

You can't get much higher praise than that.

Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman has been one of the better hitters in baseball this season, slashing .346/.420/.588 over 57 games in his second season in LA.

Surely on his way to what would be a seventh career All-Star Game for the Orange County native, Freeman has been a consistent bright spot for what has been on occasion a struggling Dodgers outfit in 2023.

Freeman's gotten his accolades from many around the game this season -- and add a former Dodger to that list.

Former Dodgers infielder Hanser Alberto complemented Freeman on his Twitter account this week, saying he was "by far" the best hitter in the MLB.

From a hitter as good as Alberto was in his prime, that's praise that carries a lot of weight. During his best season in the MLB, Alberto hit .305 with 12 home runs and 51 RBI with the Baltimore Orioles in 2019.

As for his time in Los Angeles, Alberto served as a veteran presence and a pinch-hitter on occasion, hitting .244 with two home runs and 15 RBI over his one season with the Dodgers in 2022.

Freeman is currently in the second season of a six year, $162 million contract with the Dodgers -- a deal that's currently looking like a bargain for the Dodgers considering his production both in 2022 and this season.

He's doing more than his part to help keep the Dodgers atop the NL West in what's been an inconsistent year marred by bullpen struggles and a starting rotation that's lacking depth, most notably with the difficulties that Noah Syndergaard is having in his first season with the team.

For the Dodgers, they'll hope that Freeman can keep the train moving through the rest of this season and potentially contend for an NL batting title again.

He currently stands in second in the NL hitting race behind only Luis Arraez of the Miami Marlins, who's hitting .382.
