Former Dodgers Justin Turner, Kenley Jansen Will Miss Postseason for First Time in a Decade
Even though they are on different teams now, this year's postseason will be missing some familiar faces. For the first time in ten and nine years respectively, former Dodgers Kenley Jansen and Justin Turner will be absent from the playoffs.
The news became official on Wednesday following the Red Sox's 15-5 loss to the Rangers.
Both players played a key role in the Red Sox roster this year.
Following stints of ten years with the Dodgers, both Jansen and Turner are in unfamiliar positions this season.
This is the first time since 2012 Jansen will be missing the playoffs and first time since 2013 for Turner.
Both players were a part of the Dodgers teams that won eight straight NL titles from 2013-2020.
After leaving the team in 2021, Jansen continued his playoff streak in the season he spent with the Atlanta Braves.
Turner has been unable to make the players without the Dodgers. In his six seasons while not wearing blue, Turner has yet to play October baseball.
The Red Sox missing the playoffs this year can't be blamed on the former Dodgers.
Turner was second on the team in average and third in OPS. The third baseman also put up 23 home runs and established a new career high with 95 RBI on the season.
Jansen also had a solid season. In 51 outings, Jansen recorded 29 saves. His strikeout numbers were down as he only had 52 Ks.
Now the former Dodgers are going to have a lot of free time to figure out what to do for the month of October.
